Dormouse surveys
The dormouse – a European Protected Species (EPS) – is protected under European and National law. It’s an offence to capture, kill, injure or disturb individual animals, or disturb or damage their resting and breeding sites.
The south west of England is a stronghold for dormice and if your development has the potential to affect hedgerows, woodland, areas of scrub or marshy grassland in this part of the country you probably need a dormouse survey.
How we can help
Our dormouse surveys will identify whether impacts on dormice are likely. If so, we can help you apply for a Natural England European Protected Species (EPS) licence to help get the works authorised. Our licensed dormouse ecologists can supervise your project to ensure compliance with the licence while you get on with your project.
Dormouse work is seasonally restricted because they hibernate. We recommend getting us involved at an early stage of your project so you can avoid costly delays later on.
